Yup. Scary stuff.

O' course, the ex-Forest Ranger who reads my blog has pointed out that you're STILL more likely to get killed walking down your street or in your own home than out in the woods. I have to say, though, that it's making me rethink my habit of solo hikes.

Thanks, Datamuse. I'm sorry too, for her & her daughter & her family & students & friends...

I didn't know her very well, but every time I saw her around campus we had a nice chat and I always really enjoyed seeing her.

It was only today, looking at this morning's article in the Times, that I realized that I knew her as well. I don't remember whether we ever had a class or not, but I do remember smiling at her around MGH, and having some conversation or other with her. Sad. Saw something about it on the news tonight, and sounds like she will be missed by so many people.
